Ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary elections and referendum, police will introduce comprehensive security protocols for all political parties to ensure the safety of political leaders and prospective candidates.

Under the protocol, clear guidelines will be issued covering security arrangements for residences, party offices, movements, public meetings, and cyberspace. Additional security measures are also being taken for leaders of the front line of the mass uprising and other key political figures.

The announcement was made on Sunday afternoon through a post on the verified social media page of the chief adviser to the interim government.

The post further stated that law enforcement agencies have identified the attackers and their associates involved in the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency. Operations to arrest the suspects are currently underway.

Police have already seized the motorcycle used in the attack, and forensic examinations, including fingerprint analysis, are ongoing. To prevent the main suspect from fleeing the country, photographs and identifying details were shared with all immigration checkpoints on Friday night. Patrols by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been intensified along border areas.

Although the suspects’ locations have been tracked multiple times inside the country, arrests have not yet been possible due to their frequent changes of location.

Investigators have also obtained the main suspect’s travel history, which indicates that he has visited several countries in recent years while working as an IT businessman. The latest available information shows that he traveled to Singapore on July 21.

Several additional individuals suspected of involvement in the attack have been placed under surveillance.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday summoned the Indian High Commissioner and reiterated its demand for the extradition of fascist Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who have been convicted by the International Criminal Court, to face justice in Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner was informed that Hasina, described as a fugitive residing in India, has been making repeated provocative statements and allegedly instructing her supporters to engage in terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing Bangladesh and disrupting the upcoming elections.

Bangladesh urged the Indian government to immediately stop such activities and requested full cooperation in preventing the escape of suspects involved in the attempted assassination of Sharif Osman Hadi. Dhaka said that if any of the suspects enter Indian territory, they should be promptly apprehended and extradited to Bangladesh.
