At least two people have died in a major explosion at the Baogang United Steel factory in northern China. Eighty-four others were injured, including five in serious condition, and five remain missing.

The blast occurred on Sunday at 3 PM local time (7 AM GMT), causing tremors in the surrounding area. Videos show massive plumes of smoke rising into the sky, with debris scattered both inside and outside the factory. Roofs collapsed and pipes were broken in several areas.

State media reported that authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Baogang United Steel is a major state-owned iron and steel producer in China. The country has experienced several industrial accidents in the past, including the 2015 Tianjin port explosions that killed 173 people.
