Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. While expressing pride, his wife and senior actress Hema Malini said the honour should have come much earlier.

She described Dharmendra as not only a legendary actor but also a remarkable human being, known for his kindness and compassion. Despite the delayed recognition, she welcomed the government’s decision and called it a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career.

From the 1960s to the 1990s, Dharmendra ruled the silver screen and remained equally popular among all sections of society. The Padma Vibhushan now stands as a final salute to his lasting legacy.
