Bangladesh Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah has issued a strong warning against any form of bias in the upcoming national election, saying those found guilty will face “very serious consequences.”

Speaking at a coordination meeting with law enforcement agencies and election monitoring teams in Feni on Tuesday, Sanaullah said the Election Commission would maintain zero tolerance toward partiality or misconduct.

He emphasized that neither the Election Commission nor the government would issue any biased directives. “If anyone fails to rise above personal preferences and engages in bias, the outcome will be severe,” he warned.

Sanaullah noted that the credibility of the election is directly linked to Bangladesh’s international image. He added that this election is not only about restoring democratic practices but also about rebuilding public trust at home and abroad.

Highlighting new initiatives, the commissioner said the Election Commission is introducing technology-driven election management and implementing postal ballots more effectively for the first time.

“Our goal is to ensure voters can cast their ballots freely, fearlessly, and without obstruction,” he said, calling for unified efforts from all election stakeholders.
