Petition Filed in High Court to Postpone 50th BCS Preliminary Exam

A petition has been filed in the High Court seeking the postponement of the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination scheduled for 30 January. The petition, submitted on behalf of the candidates, was filed by lawyer Nazmus Sakib, who confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday (28 January).

The 50th BCS preliminary exam is set to be held simultaneously across nine centers in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh. According to the Public Service Commission (PSC), the test will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The commission has also announced that detailed instructions regarding examination halls, seating arrangements, and other important guidelines will be made available on its official website (www.bpsc.gov.bd) and the Teletalk Bangladesh portal (http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd).

The PSC had published the official notification for the 50th BCS on 26 November last year. Applications opened on 4 December and closed on 31 December.

The petition argues that holding the exam during the ongoing election period may affect candidates’ preparation and requests the High Court to suspend the preliminary test. The court’s ruling could have a direct impact on the schedule of the 50th BCS cycle and the thousands of candidates awaiting the examination.
