The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has once again extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to submit their income tax returns, giving them additional time to comply with tax regulations for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Under a special order issued today, individual taxpayers can now file their returns until February 28, marking the third extension of the original deadline.
The move by the NBR comes as part of efforts to facilitate compliance among taxpayers and ensure that citizens have ample opportunity to submit accurate and complete returns. The NBR cited public interest as the primary reason for the extension, noting that many taxpayers were facing difficulties due to a combination of technical issues, lack of awareness, and ongoing administrative adjustments in the tax filing process.
Earlier, the submission deadline had been extended twice. Initially, the original deadline for filing income tax returns was set for November 30, 2025. Subsequently, the NBR extended it to December 31, 2025, and later to January 31, 2026, in response to ongoing challenges faced by taxpayers. Today’s announcement pushes the deadline further to February 28, 2026, providing individuals with an additional month to fulfill their tax obligations.
