Bangladesh Bank has postponed the announcement of its monetary policy for the January–June period of the current fiscal year. The policy was scheduled to be unveiled on Thursday but was delayed due to the need for further assessment of inflation data.
Central bank officials said the latest inflation figures for January are crucial in determining whether any policy easing is feasible. Without a clear picture of inflation trends, authorities opted to defer the announcement.
Although the policy framework had earlier been approved and the key policy rate was expected to remain unchanged, the bank decided to review economic conditions more carefully before making it public. The move signals a cautious approach amid ongoing inflationary pressures.
