A recent interview by Mohammad Shahabuddin has sparked intense political debate across the country. In the interview, he described the 18-month tenure of the interim administration as “deeply humiliating” and alleged attempts to remove him through unconstitutional means.

The President claimed that he was effectively confined and kept uninformed about key state decisions and foreign visits. He further alleged that there had been discussions about replacing him with a former Chief Justice, calling such moves unconstitutional.

Responding to the controversy, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated that freedom of speech is guaranteed and the government will not interfere with constitutional rights. Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said the government is closely reviewing the matter and will issue an official response after thorough examination.

The President also mentioned support from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the armed forces during the alleged crisis, further intensifying political discussions nationwide.

Observers believe the coming days will be crucial as the government prepares its formal reaction to the President’s remarks.
