Tangail's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management), Md. Selim Mia, said:

“We are hearing many stories of hardship faced by expatriates in our district. We all need to work together for the welfare of our expatriates so that such stories of suffering are not repeated. We often see people being deceived in various ways after going abroad, and upon returning home, they have to struggle to find reintegration services. In Tangail District, we are working to create a platform for expatriates where government and non-government organizations can jointly provide all necessary services before migration, while they are abroad, and after they return. To achieve this, government and private institutions, NGOs, civil society, and media professionals must work together for the welfare of expatriates.”

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the District Migration Coordination Committee Meeting held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the conference room of the Tangail Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The meeting was organized by the District Administration with support from the District Employment and Manpower Office.

The coordination meeting was chaired by Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Assistant Director of the Tangail District Employment and Manpower Office. Other speakers included Pankaj Sharma, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate as well as Officer-in-Charge of the Expatriate Welfare Branch of the District Administration; Dr. Shimu Saha, Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office; Kazi Faruk Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Expatriate Welfare Center, Tangail; Md. Abubakar Siddique, Inspector of Police from the Superintendent of Police’s Office; Kazi Tajuddin Ripon, Vice President of the Tangail Press Club; Mohammad Fazlul Karim, Chief Instructor of the Technical Training Center (TTC); Joy Saha, Manager of the Expatriate Welfare Bank; and others.

Officials from various government and non-government organizations, including the Department of Women Affairs and the Department of Social Services, along with journalists, representatives of civil society, prospective migrant workers, and returnee expatriates, attended the meeting. During the discussion, participants highlighted the services and facilities available through their respective organizations for expatriates and encouraged migrants to make use of these opportunities.
