Elderly man 'beaten to death by grandson' in Tangail

An elderly man was beaten to death allegedly by his grandson in Tangail's Kalihati upazila on Sunday night.

The incident took place at Swaruppur village under Elenga municipality.

The victim was Ansar Ali, 70, hailed from that village.

According to police and locals, the victim had a dispute with his son and grandson on Sunday evening. Following this, they locked into a argument at night. At one point, the victim's grandson Mofizul hit Ansar ali with a wooden seat.


Later, family members rescued him and took to Tangail General Hospital where he was declared dead.

On information, police recovered the body.

Kalihati Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Kamrul Faruk said the victim's daughter Nurbanu filed a case against her grandson Mofizul as the plaintiff. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
