4 die within two days amid floods in Cumilla

Four people died in two days due to rain and flood in Cumilla. Among them, three died on Wednesday (August 21), one died on Monday (August 19).

Two of them were electrocuted, one died when a tree fell on him and another succumbed to death after drowning in the floodwater.

One of the deceased is Keramot Ali, 45, a resident of Daudpur area in Cumilla's Nangalkot municipality. He died yesterday (21 August) night when he went to catch fish near a local bridge.

When he disappeared due to extreme stream, locals started searching for him. After some time, his body was found near the spot. Later, when he was rescued and taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.

An adolescent named Rafi (15) died after being electrocuted by an electric pillar in the rain on Wednesday afternoon. He is a resident of Chotra area of ​​Cumilla city. Doctor Jobair Hossain of Comilla General Hospital confirmed his death.

Another of the victims is Shahadat Hossain, an expatriate who died when a tree fell on his head while he was catching fish in floodwater during rain. The incident took place in Sonakatia (Adarso ​​village) Purbapara area of ​​Chauddagram municipality on Wednesday (August 21) morning. He is the son of Kanu Mia of Sonakatia village.

Earlier, a lawyer named Sohrab Hossain Sohag died. On Monday afternoon, he came out on the street after leaving his pregnant wife at a diagnostic centre and got entangled in electric wires that were submerged in floodwater. He died on the spot.
