Ex-public admin minister Farhad Hossain arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former public administration minister Farhad Hossain in the city's Eskaton area last night.

A RAB team arrested Farhad Hossain around 12.30am, a media release of the elite force said.

The former minister was accused in cases of gun firing on student-people and killing during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5.

Officer-in-Charge of Adabar Thana Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan told BSS that garments worker Rubel was killed during the anti-discrimination student movement in August last.

Rubel's father Rafikul Islam filed a case in this connection against 148 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina with Adabar Thana and Farhad Hossain is one of the accused in this case, he added.

Farhad Hossain became full minister in the 12th parliament. He was the Member of Parliament for three consecutive times from Meherpur-1 constituency.
