House fire kills 6 of a family, including 4 children, in Sunamganj

Six members of a family have died in a fire that broke out at an Ashrayan Project house in Sunamganj's Dharmapasha upazila.

The victims were identified as Emarul, 50, his wife Pori Aktar, and their four children: Polash, Farhad, Fatema Begum, and Omar Faruk, according to Md Enamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dharmapasha Police Station.

"The incident occurred late Monday (30 September) night at the government-run Ashrayan Project in the Shimer Khal area under Jayashree Union," OC Enamul Haque said.

"Upon arriving at the scene, we found that the house had been locked from the outside. We are currently investigating the matter," he added.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
