Five passengers of a microbus were killed and at least four others injured after a Dhaka-bound train collided with the vehicle at an unmanned level crossing in Munshibazar's Gerda area of Faridpur Sadar on Tuesday (7 January).

The accident occurred when a microbus carrying 10 to 11 passengers was struck by the Madhumati Express as it was crossing the railway tracks at around 11:30 AM. The vehicle fell into a ditch, and its gas cylinder exploded.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

Nazrul Islam, station officer of Faridpur Fire Service, confirmed the matter.

He said three passengers died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Baki Billah of Bhanga Highway Police Station said that legal procedures are underway, with Kotwali police handling the case.
