A Dhaka court today (June 24) ordered the freezing of overseas investments made by controversial businessman Mohammad Saiful Alam alias S Alam and his wife Ferjana Pervin.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order in response to three petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court directed authorities to freeze investments in 20 companies in the British Virgin Islands, including USD 350,000 in Hajek International PTE Ltd and an undisclosed amount in Peacock Property Holdings.

It also froze assets in six trusts under the Jersey Trust Company.

Additionally, a two-storey building owned by the couple in Limassol, Cyprus, has been ordered to be attached.
