Why death toll reduced from 35 to 34

The death toll in the Milestone jet crash tragedy was initially reported as 35, according to data from the Ministry of Health. However, today the ministry revised the figure to 34. Previously, 15 bodies were recorded at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), but this number has now been corrected to 14, raising several questions. Authorities have since provided an explanation.

The Ministry of Health stated that although 15 bodies were shown at CMH, guardians identified and took away nine of them. The remaining six bodies and partial remains were in body bags but could not be identified. After conducting DNA tests, it was confirmed that there were five bodies instead of six. Consequently, the number previously recorded as 15 has been adjusted to 14.

According to CMH authorities, the hospital received a total of 15 body bags on July 21. The Turag Police Station initially documented 11 complete bodies, two incomplete bodies, and five partial remains. Of the 11 complete bodies, nine were identified by relatives. On July 21, the Turag Police handed over eight bodies to relatives, followed by one more body on July 22.

On July 22, the CID forensic team collected samples from the two unidentified bodies, the two incomplete bodies, and the five partial remains for DNA testing. Based on the test results, the CID forensic team confirmed the identification of five bodies.

On the night of Thursday, July 24, the Turag Police handed over the five identified bodies and partial remains to their respective relatives.
