Bangladesh’s total number of registered voters has reached 12,61,70,900 following the latest update, the Election Commission (EC) announced on Sunday (August 10).

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told reporters at the commission headquarters that updated voter lists were released simultaneously across all election offices nationwide.

The previous tally stood at 12,37,32,274. The latest update added 4,571,216 new voters through a door-to-door registration campaign, while 2,132,590 deceased voters were removed.

Ahmed said the EC will publish three voter lists this year—one released on March 2, the updated list issued on Sunday, and another on October 31 to include those turning 18 by that date.

For the current draft list, citizens have 12 days—until 21 August—to apply for corrections. Applications will be processed by August 24, with the final updated list set for release on August 31.
